We all like to indulge in a treat now and then, and so often we’re being watched with  the big mournful eyes of your dog as he watches you eat every last crumb, just hoping you’ll drop a tasty morsel.   Have you every considered giving him a teeny bit?  Of course, we all have.  Have you ever considered making homemade treats for  your dog?  We have found the perfect recipe – tried and tested by our own Upper Canada Animal Hospital staff members pets – for the peanut butter cookie.

Recipe:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup of milk

Directions:

  • preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • in a medium size bowl, combine all ingredient and stir
  • when your mixture thickens, knead the dough onto a floured surface
  • roll the dough out to 1/4″ to 1/2″ thickness
  • this is your time to be creative, use cookie cutters or a sharp knife and create your cookie shapes.  doggie bones, fire hydrants, etc.
  • place on a cookie sheet and bake 15-17 minutes until golden brown
  • let cool serve

Remember, with everything, moderation is the key. A small treat goes a long way and your pet will love it.  “Bone” Appetit!!!
